The unique basket and flight angles of the CMI Model EBW combine with centrifugal force to provide one of the most efficient mechanical dryers available operating at a lower speed than comparable dryers.
This means less power is used, the life of parts and wear surfaces is increased and product degradation is reduced. The basket of the CMI Model EBW is sized to provide a large screen area for more compete drying.
Abrasion Resistant Wear Parts – Parts of the CMI Model EBW exposed to abrasion are surfaced or made with the most advanced wear-resistant material available, which assures maximum parts life and lower cost-per-ton of processed solids.
Direct Oil Lubrication – All internal bearings are continuously lubricated by a separately driven gear pump. With constant filtering and a low pressure sensing switch, positive protection is afforded to the bearings and gear unit.
High Strength Gearing – The precise gearing of the CMI Model EBW ensures that a differential speed is maintained between the screen and scroll. The package provides high-strength gearing and a sealed unit that can be replaced without exposing the gearing to the dirty atmosphere.
Due to its unique vertical design, the screen/basket assembly is the first rotating component to remove during maintenance. CMI’s cost effective screen design often outlasts competitive units costing two to three times as much.
In addition, belts on the CMI Model EBR Screen-Scroll Centrifuge can be changed by removing two bolts and one oil line from the bottom without any disassembly of the top parts.
The CMI Model EBW Screen-Scroll Centrifuge uses a stainless steel profile wire screen available with abrasion resistant coatings for maximum life. The separate support basket minimizes operating costs and provides rigid support for longer life and ease of maintenance.
CMI’s Model EBW Screen-Scroll Centrifuge has been proven effective in several industries including coal preparation, dewatering of potash, gilsonite, in salt processes and in dewatering various sands. A modified version has also been utilized in the paper pulp industry. Typically, the CMI Model EBW offers the best results on material between 28 mesh and 100 mesh, but can be used for other size fractions, dependent upon the material to be processed.
The CMI Model EBW Screen-Scroll Centrifuge is available in 36”, 40”, 42” and the new 48” configurations.

Material Flow - EBW Screen-Scroll Centrifuge
Material fed into the machine is accelerated by the rotating parts contacted. Solids are retained on the screen surface, while centrifugal force slings free liquids through the screen openings. Movement of solids across the screen surface is controlled by flights, which move relative to the screen.
Solids discharged from the screen fall by gravity, through the machine's bottom opening. Liquids that have passed through the screen are collected and discharged through two effluent outlets.
Long Life Parts Package®
Screen-Scroll Centrifuges have been revolutionized through the introduction of the Long Life Parts Package. Replacing the "standard" rotating components in Model EBR and EBW Screen-Scroll Centrifuges with an integrated package of components, the CMI Long Life Parts Package provides substantial operating cost-reductions, while also improving overall performance. The Long Life Parts Package was designed to alter the material flow within the centrifuge in order to address the serious sliding abrasion that contributes substantially to the overall operating and maintenance costs of screen-scroll centrifuges. By utilizing a patented "material on material" concept to accelerate material to centrifugal speed, dewatering can be more effective while improving the component life of nearly all contacted wear items.
Cost savings can be realized from both the improved life of Long Life Parts Package components, and from the increased machine availability that the Long Life Parts Package provides. Typical first-year savings can be as much as 35-40% over standard rotating components. The Long Life Parts Package is designed to reduce abrasive wear within CMI Screen-Scroll Centrifuges and results in significantly reduced operating costs. All new and remanufactured CMI Model EBR and Model EBW Screen-Scroll Centrifuges are equipped with the Long Life Parts Package as "standard configuration".
In addition, Long Life Parts Package Conversion Kits are available to convert the 36" Screen-Scroll Centrifuges to 40" machines, and 42" Screen-Scroll Centrifuges to 48" machines. Through conversion, the same base machine can be used to accept increased feed slurry or, if increased capacity is not a concern, can offer product moisture reduction through increased screen open-area. These benefits are in addition to the proven cost-savings realized by Long Life Parts Package customers. These two conversion kits also provide a single basket design that can accept either perforated plate or profile-wire screen configurations, allowing for greater flexibility in meeting demands of specific applications.
