July 9, 2009, Raleigh, IL – Elgin National Industries’ Centrifugal Services, Inc. (CSI) announced the introduction of a new line of rugged, efficient rotary breakers for the coal preparation industry. The new CSI line will include rotary breakers in standard 8’, 9', 10', 12’ or 14' diameters. Standard available lengths will run from 16’ to 32’ in both double and single end drive configurations.
The CSI rotary breaker drum utilizes:
- high strength steel endless ring tires manufactured from forgings
- spreader beams with six stiffening gussets per side machined to a common length
- cast manganese screens with four 1” wide x 1-1/2” tall stiffeners on the back side
- adjustable plows and full row lifters to lift and drop more coal per minute.
As coal (or other minerals) is fed into the rotary breaker, oversized coal is lifted and dropped onto the manganese screen plates, which breaks the coal. The broken coal passes through the holes in the manganese screen plate. The rock and/or other refuse are too hard to break and remain intact. The oversize rock/refuse is removed by a discharge scoop and discharged through the end of the rotary breaker, separate from the clean product. Rotary breakers are also commonly used to process feed materials such as oil sands, alumina and aluminum dross.
